I know! Even I couldn't believe that I had never attended a fashion show before but I finally managed to do so this weekend :) And the show featured one of my all time favorite designers: Vikram Phadnis. I remember watching his fashion shows on TV many many years ago so it was quite a treat to be able to see his collection live and interact with him. Although he's not considered a "next gen" designer, his collection was refreshing as it can get.
The show took place in The Fairmont Hotel (located in San Jose) and this was supposed to be one of those rare events involving one of India's most famous fashion designers. So how could I miss it?! Supporting the foundation Two Cents of Hope, I felt even better attending.
It was quite a "private" affair, at least compared to all those LFW's. Plus we had dinner tables, which made the atmosphere all the more relaxed.
I had arrived at The Fairmont at 4 (because that's apparently when the initial performances by dance companies were supposed to happen) and turns out, the whole shazam only started at 7:30...
But I was a little excited so I tried not to complain about the stereotypical IST.

THE COLLECTION: As the show commenced, I was armed with my phone because I didn't want to miss anything. So I subconsciously ended up watching most of the show through my camera...sigh...and it's not even like I got the best pictures. But the clothes. SO BEAUTIFUL. Not too glitzy but just the right amount of glamor. Starting off with whites and golds, the color palate shifted to aquamarine blue to the ever-so-famous combination of pink, orange & red. Loved how the models looked (big hair & bold/dramatic eyes) and the music set the right tempo. Everything blended too perfectly! I know I sound a little hyper/biased but everything was really just that good. Take a look yourselves!
Did I mention some other cool people in town other than VP? Malaika Arora Khan & Dino Morea! It was really nice to see them too (model and just generally), especially Dino...because well um...Dino. But they both rocked the runway!
