Dinner with my colleagues (now ex-colleagues) is never normal. We always resort to picking up desserts (the dreaded yet highly anticipated D-word) instead of any actual food. We headed over to Cocola Bakery located in Santana Row at around 6 in the evening. It was pretty crowded with a huge number of people trying to satisfy their sweet tooth. Some people can be so desperate for baked goods, tsk tsk. We all ended up getting creme brûlée and I got to pick up a piece of Opera cake for my little sister because I'm basically the nicest sister ever. Creme brûlée was good but since we didn't eat them immediately, the caramel layer became a tad too hard but nonetheless tasted fantastic. A little less lemon-y and I would've given it a 10/10. As for the Opera cake...HEAVEN. I sneaked a few bites after giving it to my sister and at that point I was wishing that I could've picked up a slice for myself. Here's Cocola's description of the cake for those of you who are interested in the finer things in life "layers of almond sponge cake, melted chocolate, coffee butter cream and ganash".
